When Paul McCloskey III could not reach his father by phone, the problem was not that his father was ignoring the call. He simply could not hear it ring.

Like many families with aging parents or loved ones who are hard of hearing, Paul knew the worry that comes when an important call goes unanswered. Sometimes, he even had to ask someone nearby to physically check on his father just to make sure everything was okay.

That everyday problem became the inspiration for Renny®, a loud wireless cell phone ringer and flasher created by Olens Technology®.

“I created Renny because I knew what it felt like to call someone you love and worry when they didn’t answer,” said Paul McCloskey III, co-founder of Olens Technology. “Sometimes the best technology is not another complicated app. It is something simple that helps people stay connected.”

Where It All Started

Renny® did not come from a brainstorm in a boardroom. It came from a real-life problem that Paul personally experienced with his father.

Paul was trying to stay in touch with his father, who lived in another city and had hearing loss. When calls went unanswered, it was not just frustrating. It was worrying.

After searching for a simple solution and coming up empty, Paul decided to build one himself.

“Renny® was created so people do not have to miss an important call just because they could not hear their phone,” McCloskey said.

Simple by Design, Useful by Nature

Renny® is, at its core, refreshingly straightforward.

It connects to a smartphone using Bluetooth® and helps make sure incoming calls do not go unnoticed. Instead of relying only on the phone’s built-in speaker or vibration, Renny® rings very loud and flashes a bright light, making incoming calls easier to hear and see from across the room.

There is no app to download. No Wi-Fi to set up. No complicated instructions to follow.

And that is the point.

For many users — especially older adults, people who are hard of hearing, or caregivers managing multiple responsibilities — technology that “just works” is not a luxury. It is a necessity.

Renny® also fits into everyday life in ways many people can relate to. Small business owners, shop owners, mechanic shops, loud restaurants and bars, home office workers, caregivers, busy households, and anyone who has ever left a phone on silent, in another room, or simply not loud enough to hear can understand the frustration of missing an important call — especially when that call could be from a customer, appointment, family member, caregiver, or to-go order.

A Different Kind of Company

Olens Technology® is a Dallas-based product innovation company focused on creating practical products that solve everyday problems.

The company describes itself as invention-driven, meaning every product starts with a real problem — not simply a marketing opportunity. That mindset shows up across its product line, which includes Renny®, Laptop Tent®, LumiSign®, and Fuser®, a patented sound-mixing product.

But Renny® remains one of the clearest expressions of what the brand stands for: practical innovation that improves daily life in a meaningful way.

Olens Technology was originally co-founded by Paul McCloskey III and veteran inventor Ron Meritt. In 2020, Paul bought out Ron’s ownership interest, and today the company is owned and operated by Paul and his wife, Paula Pendley.

Together, Paul and Paula run Olens Technology as a family business, continuing the company’s focus on useful, real-world invention.

“Our goal is to create products that make life easier, more independent, and more connected,” McCloskey said. “Renny is a perfect example of that because it solves a problem so many families understand.”

Why It Matters

In a world where technology often feels overly complicated, there is something refreshing about a product that solves one specific problem well.

Renny® does not try to replace your phone, require a landline, or add another monthly service. It simply helps make sure you know when your cell phone is ringing.

And for the people who rely on that — whether it is a senior living independently, a caregiver checking in, a family member trying to reach a loved one, or a professional managing a busy day — that small function can make a meaningful difference.

“We believe technology should make life easier, more independent, and more inclusive — especially for people whose needs are often overlooked,” McCloskey said.

Looking Forward

Olens Technology continues to focus on what it does best: identifying everyday challenges and creating thoughtful solutions that fit seamlessly into real life.

With Renny®, the company has shown that innovation does not always have to be complex to be impactful. Sometimes, it is about paying attention to the things people struggle with every day — and solving them in a way that feels simple, reliable, and human.
