Recent NFL mock drafts project that the New York Giants will most likely be selecting Malik Nabers with the 6th overall pick in the first round of the upcoming Draft on April 25th.

Giants experts such as Michael Middlehurst-Schwartz, Dane Brugler, and Will Brinson all believe that General Manager Joe Schoen will go with Nabers at 6th overall, with the Giants having a glaring hole in the wide receiver room going into the offseason. An anonymous scout from the AFC North also believes from what they’ve seen that the Giants are targeting Nabers ahead of the draft.

Malik Nabers is coming off of an excellent season at Louisiana State Uiversity, who have an incredible record with their receiving prospects turning into elite NFL talents. The arguable two best wide receivers in the NFL in Justin Jefferson and Ja’Marr Chase are both recent LSU graduates. LSU has also produced other star receivers such as Odell Beckham Jr., the last Giant to have a 1000+ yard season, which was all the way back in 2018.

Many believe that Nabers is the best wide receiver in the draft, and the Giants do not have much stability at the skill position behind a group led by Darius Slayton and Wan’dale Robinson. Nabers will give quarterback Daniel Jones a projected number one option for the first time in his career.

It is imperative that the Giants gain more skill positions after losing superstar running back to Saquon Barkley to their NFC East rival in the Philadelphia Eagles.

Quarterback Daniel Jones is coming off of a down season that was cut to only 6 games after he suffered a torn ACL against the Raiders in week 9 of the season. Regardless, there is a fear of Jones instability and the idea that he is not the future star QB the Giants hoped for when they selected him 6th overall in 2019.

Jones has had a fairly underwhelming career with the Giants, however he did lead them to the playoffs in the 2022 season, before losing in the NFL divisional round 38-7 to the Super Bowl runner-up Philadelphia Eagles.

Jones, despite the playoff win under his belt, still faces questions about his career, and many believe that he will return as the Giants starting quarterback at least for next season.

Jones does not have an incredible amount of stability, as many believe the Giants could go in the direction of a new quarterback. According to Peter Schrager of the NFL Network, he believes the Giants will select NCAA Champion JJ Mccarthy from The University of Michigan. McCarthy is coming off of a NCAA Championship victory against Washington, and both him and his college coach Jim Harbaugh will go off to the NFL, with Harbaugh as the new coach of the Los Angeles Chargers.

It is widely agreed upon that the Giants will either select Nabers, or try to start the Quarterback process over again with a new prospect, McCarthy or otherwise. Caleb Williams will be drafted first overall by the Chicago Bears, but outside of him it is questionable on QB’s such as McCarthy, Drake Maye, and Jayden Daniels get drafted.

If the Giants go with Nabers, it will make life easier for them as they will not have to try to move whats remaining on Jones’ 4 year/160 Million contract that he signed after the Giants 2022 playoff season.
